Amma on Shivaratri:
“No matter how turbulent the situation, the Lord Shiva’s head and inner realm remains peaceful. Though the head is cool, the heart is always warm with compassion for the world. What we need is a cool head and a warm heart. But what we see in the world today is the very opposite: most people are hot-headed and cold-hearted. Everyone’s head is heated up by worldly thoughts, and the heart has become frosty with selfishness. If our head is cool, we can face the most adverse circumstances peacefully and turn it to our advantage.”
The mind does nothing (to you) without your permission.
(Even with practice), the mind does not stop – it is you who stop giving attention to the mind. You will lose the tendency to evaluate yourself (and realise that) wave or no wave ocean is ocean. Without your interest, all these negativities fade out. They’re just living on sponsorship from you. If you have no interest in something it quietly goes out of existence.
Actually, it’s the Yogi life that’s important to silence. Because Silence is everywhere. But the yogi life gives us the opportunity to truly start listening to it, thoroughly, uninterruptedly. Aum. Aum. Aum.
Watching my thoughts go by and by, like a work of art constantly evolving in a chaotic structure, to nowhere specifically, with no sense apparently.
I put down the brush and look behind the canvas. And as I look, 100 colours drip from my fingers and colour my soul. They dance. This is the first work of art that I can truly call mine – not a copy of my favourite impressions, but my own visceral creation.
“The fact that we do not identify thinking as one of the six senses is very significant. We are so immersed in thought that trying to explain thought as a sense is like telling a fish about water.” – in Inner Worlds, Outer Worlds
Because it’s 3am and I should be sleeping right now.
What if the things you remember aren’t real?
When you feel the sunset kissing the outline of your face you’re not remembering: you’re experiencing, feeling the warmth awakening your heart. Any thought hoping for or remembering this moment isn’t real. It’s only your imagination, your contaminated interpretation of now. Think about this – but only for a brief second – because as soon as you do, the moment is gone. Reality is right here: in the place where there are no thoughts, no words, no hopes, no knowledge of what happened to you or predictions of what will. You are everything right now. The most important person in your life. Know that. Feel that. Now forget that.
